Ethical Recruitment

AN Healthcare is committed to ensuring ethical recruitment and operating in accordance with the DHSC Code of Practice for the international recruitment of health and social care personnel in England. We do not actively recruit from any countries on the WHO Health Workforce Support and Safeguard List unless there is a government-to-government partnership agreement in place.More information about the Code of Practice and a list of agencies that adhere to it, including ANL Healthcare, can be found on the NHS Employers website.

Please note: in line with the rules of the code, ANL Healthcare can support and facilitate passage to the UK for direct applicants from the WHO list, where candidates have already been appointed or offered employment by an NHS provider.

Outstanding Candidate Support

We are justifiably proud of our exemplary reputation for supporting candidates. From day one we provide all the guidance they need to prepare for exams, submit visa applications and get ready for their journey.

On arrival, we provide a VIP-standard welcome and candidates are given comprehensive support to settle in, well after they’ve landed and started their new roles – from assistance with formal tasks like opening bank accounts and registering with GPs, to helping them make friends and adjust to life in the UK.

Quality You Can Trust

Pre-screening is extremely rigorous with stringent compliance checks in line with NHS standards. Our priority focus is on high-calibre applicants with the very highest levels of experience and language skills.Less than 60% of our applicants make it through and we consistently achieve interview-hire rates of over 85%, ensuring that the time our clients spend assessing candidates is used in the best possible way.As a direct result of our focus on quality and candidate support, we have an outstanding retention rate, more than double the industry average, with almost all the professionals we recruit choosing to stay.

Background

Working with various NHS Trust we provide recruitment services to various regions, as well as specialist plastic surgery, spinal treatment and genetics services for patients right across the South of England.

Challenge

Following the announcement of the UK's intention to leave the EU in June 2016, there was an immediate and significant drop off in applications from European-trained nurses to work in the UK, with many who had already settled here also expressing intentions to return home. With demand rising and workforce shortages steadily increasing, there was an immediate need to begin recruiting more nurses from international locations to plug the gap left by European nurses working within the UK healthcare system. In 2016, NHS began a challenging year, facing a deficit for the first time in their history. Due to an increase in non-elective activity and delayed transfers of care to appropriate community settings, the Trust needed to open more temporary bed accommodation, which would require expensive agency nurses to be used.

Solution

Partnerships were quickly established with two accredited recruitment agents and the top local IELTS provider to provide full support with IELTS, OET and CBT with very successful results. The latest campaign comprised of in-country interviews with 119 nurses from international locations - a total of 90 offers, 87 of the nurses offered had already passed the IELTS exam. This strategy facilitated an increased number of international nurse arrivals year on year, which significantly eased the burden of winter pressures for the Trust. This brought the total number of permanent nurses recruited into the United Kingdom by ANL Healthcare to well over 200, with retention consistently above 99%.
